Attractions nearby
The village of Haut de Cagnes, nestled in between the Cagnes sur Mer beaches and the mountains, is an attractive Medieval settlement. The imposing château (built in 1310 by a descendant of the current Monaco Grimaldi family) sits at the heart of the narrow cobbled streets, which reveal some charming restaurants and shops. The Château now houses the Grimaldi Museum, and boasts a collection of paintings by world-renowned artists. Haut de Cagnes is also home to Chapelle Notre Dame de la Protection, where frescoes dating back to 1530 were discovered as recently as 1936. There is a free shuttle bus to Haut de Cagnes from the main bus stop in Cagnes sur Mer.
The artist Renoir spent the last 12 years of his life in the Collettes neighbourhood of Cagnes sur Mer. Here, he gained inspiration for his work from the stunning views down to the Côte d’Azur beaches and the surrounding Riviera countryside. The backdrops went on to become some of the most famous Impressionist paintings that he is still so well known for. Now there is a museum there in his honour, where some of his canvases and sculptures are proudly displayed.
Cagnes sur Mer is home to the ‘Hippodrome de la Côte d’Azur’, where regular horse racing takes place. In addition to being able to place a few bets, punters can enjoy the restaurant, bars, children's activities and occasional firework displays, making this a popular local evening activity for all the family.

One of the other great opportunities available in  Saint Laurent du Var is to rent a boat for a day and tour the beautiful coastline.
